FRANKFORT, KY (July 2, 2025) — The 46th Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur came to a close at Frankfort Country Club after three days of intense summer heat, rain on day two, and a fiercely competitive leaderboard. Athena Singh emerged as the champion, marking her third victory in the prestigious event, having previously won in 2022 and 2023.
Starting the final round with a commanding five-shot lead, Singh maintained her control despite facing a few challenges throughout the day. Her round began with a steady string of pars before a birdie on hole #4 sparked a surge of momentum. However, a series of bogeys on holes #6, #7, and #9 kept her on edge. Undeterred, Singh bounced back on the back nine with a birdie on hole #12, regaining her rhythm. A bogey on hole #14 was her only blemish on the back nine, but Singh finished strong with a birdie on hole #15 and a series of solid pars. Her final score of 72-67-73—212 secured the victory. Singh will now head to the 76th U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, where she will compete with 156 junior girls at the Atlanta Athletic Club (Riverside Course) from July 14-19, 2025.
Willa Borough, starting the final round in third place with a solid 72, made a strong charge up the leaderboard. She began with a string of pars before a bogey on hole #4. Borough quickly regained her form, birdieing holes #7 and #8, and continued her strong play on the back nine. Despite a bogey on hole #15, she finished the round with a series of pars, ultimately posting a score of 76-64-72—222 to take second place.
Keira Yun entered the final round with a score of 69 and started strong, carding a series of pars. However, bogeys on holes #5 and #8 slowed her momentum. Yun regained some ground on the back nine, finding her rhythm with pars and a birdie on hole #12. Unfortunately, a double bogey on hole #13 and a bogey on hole #15, followed by pars, dashed her hopes of catching the leader. Yun finished in third place with a score of 79-69-76—224.
