Kenzie Willen and Tucker Jones Lead Round One at the Lexington Junior Championship

LEXINGTON, KY — June 18, 2025 — The 2025 Lexington Junior Championship, held June 18–19 at Kearney Hill Golf Links, upheld its tradition by showcasing the region’s most talented junior golfers. Since merging in 2022, the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour and the Lexington Junior Championship have established a competitive and unified platform for young, skilled players to test their abilities on one of the state’s premier public courses.

Tucker Jones (Richmond, KY) secured first place in Round One of the Boys 16–18 Division with a 4-under-par 68. Jones opened with birdies on holes 1, 3, 4, and 7 and powered through the back nine with a bogey-free finish, showing excellent control and consistency. He holds a one-stroke lead over the T2 pairing of Ashton Gordon (Lexington, KY) and Luke Watson (Lexington, KY), who each posted a 3-under-par 69. Gordon birdied five holes, while Watson matched four birdies and added an eagle on hole 3 to stay in contention.

In the Girls 14–18 Division, Kenzie Willen (Burkesville, KY) claimed the Round One lead with a 1-over-par 73, finishing two strokes ahead of the field. Her round was highlighted by a strong back nine, including a birdie on 17 and pars on holes 11–14 and 18. Tied for second at 3-over-par 75 are Greer Wathen (Prospect, KY), Aubrey Barrow (Ashland, KY), and Morgan Kennedy (Richmond, KY). Wathen stayed composed down the stretch, maintaining her place near the top of the leaderboard alongside Barrow and Kennedy, who also delivered steady performances to remain in contention.

In the Boys 14–15 Division, Brady Faulkner (Louisville, KY) claimed the top spot with a 1-over-par 73. Faulkner carded three birdies on the front nine and remained steady through the finish. One stroke behind, Myles Williams (Frankfort, KY) secured second place with a 2-over-par 74, bolstered by four birdies across his round.

Parker Haddix (Lexington, KY) dominated the Girls 13 & Under Division with a 3-over-par 75, building a commanding 10-stroke lead after Round One. Haddix showed grit and resilience throughout her round, closing with a birdie on 18 after navigating a challenging stretch on the back nine with resilience. Bayley Dunn (Richmond, KY) earned second place with a 14-over-par 86, playing a solid front nine and holding strong through the closing stretch.

In the Boys 11–13 Division, Max DeHaven (Lexington, KY) took the Round One lead with a 7-over-par 79, powered by three birdies. He holds a two-stroke advantage over Henry Cooper (Lexington, KY), who followed closely with a 9-over-par 81.

In the Girls 10 & Under (9-hole Division), Madeline Sheretz (Lexington, KY) held first place with a 1-over-par 37. Sheretz’s performance included two birdies, allowing her to separate from the field. Izzy Fightmaster (Lexington, KY) sits in second with an 8-over-par 44.

The Boys 10 & Under (9-hole Division) saw a tightly contested finish as Hagan Newton (Lexington, KY) and Jamison Welch (Nicholasville, KY) both carded 1-under-par 35s to tie for first place. Newton’s round featured three birdies, while Welch posted two, resulting in a competitive and consistent showing from both players.

Round Two begins Thursday, June 19, at 7:30 AM.
