LOUISVILLE, KY (July 7, 2025) – The opening round of the 46th Kentucky Boys Junior Amateur at Persimmon Ridge Golf Club challenged players with blistering summer heat and a mid-afternoon thunderstorm delay. Despite the demanding conditions and a highly competitive field, Landon Hunt of Paducah, Kentucky, emerged as the early leader with a smooth, three-under 69.

Hunt began his round on the 10th tee and quickly found his rhythm, opening with a string of pars before birdieing the 11th. His only misstep came on the 12th, where he carded a bogey, but he bounced back with birdies on 15, 2, and 3. He played his final nine bogey-free to secure the solo lead heading into round two.

Talen Beane of California, Kentucky, sits one shot back after a solid round of 70. Beane started strong on the 10th tee with birdies on 13, 15, and 18 and stayed in red figures despite a bogey on 16. He added birdies on holes 2 and 6, but bogeys on 8 and 9 dropped him into second.

Three players are tied for third at 71: Parker Geldhof (Lexington), William Stuart (Louisville), and Campbell Parsons (Campbellsville).

Geldhof carded birdies on 12, 15, 3, and 4, with setbacks on 13 and a double bogey on 5. He closed with consistent pars to remain well within reach of the lead.

Stuart turned in an up-and-down round highlighted by birdies on 2, 5, 6, 11, and 14. He ran into trouble with a bogey on 8, a double on 12, and another bogey on 17, but held steady with a closing par to finish.

Parsons got off to a hot start with birdies on 10, 12, and 13 to highlight a strong opening nine. His momentum took a hit with a double bogey on 5 followed by a bogey on 6, but he bounced back with back-to-back birdies on 7 and 8 before closing with a bogey on 9.
