LOUISVILLE, KY (September 20, 2019) — The field for the inaugural All-State Championship has been announced, with a total of thirty boys and girls teams and 42 individuals competing for their respective titles. The All-State Championship will be contested over 36-holes of stroke play at the University Club of Kentucky on Saturday and Sunday, September 21st and 22nd.

“We are striving to have a major impact on not only golf in Kentucky as a whole, but also on the individuals that are participating and anyone that is involved,” said Kevin Mims, Executive Director of the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association. “The All-State Championship will give players the opportunity to compete against the best players in the state, and will reward hard work, ability, concentration of mind, time put in for practice, and the desire to go against the best.”

The University Club of Kentucky will be hosting the inaugural All-State Championship on both the Big Blue and Wildcat courses. The facility is home to the University of Kentucky golf program and has been a longtime supporter of junior and amateur golf since Danny McQueen constructed the facility in 1992. Both courses were designed by renowned architect Arthur Hills and have hosted a plethora of state, regional and national events, including the 2002 SEC Championship.

“Kevin and I started discussing the concept of a single tournament with the best boys and girls teams in Kentucky about four years ago,” said Danny McQueen, owner of University Club of Kentucky. “We would talk about it constantly when we were together, and the timing finally seemed right. We are really excited that we were able to bring the concept to reality and showcase a championship with the best teams in one place.”

Golf House Kentucky, the umbrella organization which manages the Kentucky Golf Association, Kentucky Section PGA and the Kentucky Golf Foundation, will assist with the conduct of the championship and provide administrative and logistical support. The tournament will be held in honor of Vince Hamilton, a long time contributor to high school golf in Kentucky.

Scoring and results will be available at kyjuniorgolf.org and kygca.org.
